What makes this cave different?
The drawings and carvings are the reason to visit. Take time to look at the rock surfaces as well as the formations; do not touch the art or stone. The tourism ministry describes the cavern as one of the more accessible caves in the country, with a lit footpath, ramps and an elevator.
Accessibility features do not guarantee that every section is suitable for every visitor. If you need step-free access throughout, check the current route and elevator availability with the site before traveling.
How to fit it into a trip
The site is between San Pedro de Macorís and La Romana, making it a logical stop when traveling between the capital and the southeast coast. It is a distinct visit from the boat-accessed caves of Los Haitises and the urban lagoon caves of Los Tres Ojos.
Bring shoes with good grip and allow time to follow the designated path. Check opening days, entry rules and any guide arrangements directly before setting out; the official tourism listing does not publish a dependable current admission price or schedule.
